A Great Day TWO!!!

Hi everyone!

I hope you had a good Friday and that you remembered to dress down! This morning we heard a FABULOUS Indian speaker named Tarun J. Tejpal who taught us that if we have love and laughter in our lives we are unstoppable! So, be sure to laugh a lot and spread as much love around as possible!

We also went to a wonderful workshop given by The Lakeside School in Washington state. I heard them present last year in Seattle, and they were so great I went back again this year for their new presentation. Mrs. Euwer, Mr. Corvino, Mr. Buckley and Mr. Conard all went with me and we learned A LOT!!!

I also met a great teacher who is a reading specialist like Mrs. Von Feldt. She teaches at Far Hills Country Day School where I will go to visit next Friday!

Mrs. Euwer and I are in charge of the upper school students who are here. We are going to pick them up in just about 20 minutes and help them get ready for the dinner and dance they are going to tonight. Then, we will go to a banquet and hear another speaker named Marcus Mabry. He graduated from The Lawrenceville School in NJ. I can't wait to hear him speak, because I read his book a long time ago.

So, we are off... we'll blog again later, if we have time! Penguey said to tell the whole class that he said Hello!!!

Hello Michael!

Dear Michael,

I remembered to turn off the heat in the morning, but it is REALLY cold here today. The temperature is dropping so we are all bundled up. We don't have to go out of the convention center if we don't want to, but usually we go out to get something to eat or to look around. The news said the temperature is 34 degrees today. YIKES!

Be sure to look at the pictures of the people I have seen and met!I also thought I saw Pengey walking down the street yesterday! Could that be? Have you been reading about his adventures? I'll try to find him today. He must be visiting Boston, too!

A Fantastic First Day!!

Hi Everyone!

Today was the first day of our conference and we had a great opening speaker named Frank Wu. We learned a lot from him about his experiences as an Asian American as he was growing up. We also went to lots of great workshops and I met many new people and saw lots of old friends too! I am learning a lot of really great things about how to make our school a better place.

Today I also had a chance to go in search of penguinos! I think I might find Pengey around here somewhere...

More details tomorrow...it's after midnight and I have to get in the bed now!

Hi  Ms. Smith-Willis,

I love  to blog you.   We  made  our penguins out of paper today.  They look very good  and it was a very good  project.  My name didn't get picked in the lottery today, but at least I had lots of tickets in the jar and maybe I will be luckier tomorrow.  We did get 8 extra minutes of recess and then in the afternoon, we earned 8 more points so we played 7-Up at the end of the day.  I miss having you in the classroom, but while you are away, we are playing lots of fun games (and learning a little bit too).  It is time for Abby to blog Mrs. Ogden, so good night from our house.

Mrs. Euwer and I are having lots of fun. We are busy, but enjoying all of the meetings. I am seeing lots of teacher friends from all over the country. Dad's classmate from Pennington is here. I will see her tomorrow because she is presenting a workshop that I am going to go to.

Hello Taj, Michael & Drew!

Hi Guys!

I have not seen any penguinos yet, but I will be on the look out tomorrow, I promise. I will see what kind of goodies I can find too. The weather is just like it is back home, not too cold, but not too hot. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Michael, that penguin in Seattle was buying a beautiful diamond necklace for his mate at the jewelry store. She had just laid her egg and everyone knows that when a mom has a baby, the dad is supposed to buy a gift for her. So, that's why he was shopping that day. Mrs. Euwer and I thought it was strange too, so we asked him what he was shopping for!

Taj, I hope you made a terrific picture in art. I'm sure it is fantastic and I look forward to seeing it when I get back!

Drew, I'll try to find a goodie for you guys. Unlike Seattle, there are not a bunch of shops all around the convention center. So, we are going to have to hunt for things here... wish us luck!

Hello 1-SW!!! I'm here!

Hi everyone!

We made it to Boston and the bus ride was great! We had lunch on the bus, and then I listened to my iPod and took a nap. I was listening to holiday jazz, of course! When I woke up we were in Boston and everyone was very excited!

We checked into our rooms and then we went to a place called the No Name Restaurant for dinner. I had chicken and vegetables and a big glass of cranberry juice.

Mrs. Euwer is my roommate, so we have to share the computer blogging time. While she blogs, I am eating Cape Cod chocolate covered cranberries and while I blog, she is eating pretzels. We need to get in the beds because it is late, but we are too excited!!

When we checked in at the conference we got a bag to carry around all of our stuff. It is very nice and I will post a picture of it on the side of the blog. I have already seen 3 friends from Dallas, Washington DC and California. We are all happy to be here again!

I will blog again tomorrow! Keep sending me messages! I love getting them!

I hope you are having a great time. Did you see any penguins yet? I did a picture in art today and it is a pretty nice picture. It was a picture of a map. I put Mississippi next to Texas. Mississippi looks like Pippi Longstocking's head with crazy braids. Mrs. Summa is giving out tickets for good behavior. If you get one you put it in a basket and then, on Friday, Mrs. Summa will put her hand in the basket and pick a ticket out. Which ever name is picked, that kid gets to sit in the teacher's chair and eat snack at the end of the day. All the other kids get prizes when Mrs. Summa picks their names on other days. We also get points in for walking down the hall quietly and for doing well in specials classes.

We  have been  reading  lost  of  penguin  books.  I  hope  you  had   a  good   trip.   I   will   miss  you.I  hope   you  can  try  to  bring  little  penguin  treats  for  the whole  class. Dear Class 1 SW:

I'm heading to Boston on Wednesday for a terrific conference! 20 people from The Pingry School are going! I am looking forward to seeing all of my teacher friends from all across the country! I will try to post as many pictures as I can of all the people I meet and all of the things I see.

Last year I went to the Seattle, the headquarters of Starbucks Coffee, but I don't drink coffee! Let's see if anyone can remember what I love to drink instead! Be sure to cast your vote on my Blogger Poll each day! I'll try to have a different question each day I am away.

Does Boston have penguins? I'm not sure, but I will certainly be on the look out! In Dallas, TX I saw Tacky the Penguin in a parade. In Seattle, WA I saw a penguin doing its holiday shopping at a jewelry store. Wonder if I will see any penguinos in Boston, MA? You'll have to check my blog for pictures....(You can tell Sra. Yorkshire that you know the Spanish word for penguin now!)

Work hard and learn lots of terrific things about Antarctica while I am away! I hope to come back on Monday and see penguinos hanging from the clothes lines in the classroom! Will you be able to complete the project I have left for you?

Be great helpers to Mrs. Summa and be good listeners. I'll try to respond to as many messages as I can in the evenings. Be sure to blog me while I am away!
